Bride Speech Do’s and Don’ts
Writing your own unique bride speech is no easy task. This isn’t some ordinary presentation that you normally do; this is your special wedding day speech. The speech that will be remembered for years to come by your family and friends.
Just know that you are not alone. All brides come to the realization that they would like to make a speech but don’t have the words to pull it off.
There’s no need to feel stress because you just found the help you need to make your bride speech a memorable one.
The do’s and don’ts to a perfect wedding speech:
Do thank everyone who came out to share your special day….especially those that traveled very far. You can begin your speech by saying “ We would like to thank all of you guys for making this day special for (husband name) and I especially aunt Sallie for coming all the way from New England. Also, thanking all the members in your bridal party from the maid of honor to the best man. Here you can tell an amusing story about the preparations of the wedding.
One of the most important parts of your wedding speech is acknowledging your husband. You can tell the story of how you two met, or something funny that has happened to the both of you. Also don’t forget to tell him how much he means to you and how happy you are to be his wife and how you look forward to many happy years together.
Next you will want to include a few words to your parents and in-laws. Thanking them for their support and influence over the years. Tell your in-laws how grateful you are to them raising a wonderful respectful man who is now your husband.
You must never never use profanity in your speech. No matter how tempting it may be to tell a story. Never use it period.
None the less be very careful if you’re going to tell a joke to capture the guests attention. Remember not to tell a joke with racial or political connotations. You don’t want to offend anyone.
Finally the closing of your speech. You should end with a toast to either your husband, bridesmaid or wedding guest. Otherwise your final words should be a sentimental statement like: “ I love you all from the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this day special.”
Just relax and make your words heartfelt and you’ll do just fine. Also remember to practice your speech a couple of times before the big day.
